USA, USA, USA!
The U.S. women’s 4×100 relay team brought home the gold in electrifying fashion at the 2024 Olympics! Powered by a star-studded lineup featuring Gabby Thomas, Sha’Carri Richardson, Melissa Jefferson, and Twanisha Terry, the team delivered a season-best performance, clocking in at 41.78 seconds.
The victory was nothing short of spectacular, with Great Britain close behind at 41.85 seconds, and Germany securing third place with a season-best 41.97 seconds. Gabby Thomas set the stage with a strong third leg, while Sha’Carri Richardson anchored the team, sealing the win despite rainy conditions.
This triumph is especially sweet for the U.S. women after finishing second behind Jamaica in the Tokyo Olympics. This time, the Jamaican team was missing key stars like Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson, and Elaine Thompson-Herah due to injuries, leaving the U.S. team as the clear favorite.
For Gabby Thomas, this gold is her second of the 2024 Olympics, having also clinched the 200-meter title earlier in the week. Sha’Carri Richardson celebrated her first Olympic gold after placing second in the 100-meter race last Saturday.
