In a recent interview with Nick Cannon on Counsel Culture, August Alsina opened up about his feelings about love and relationships.
The singer addressed dating another man and how he’s not about putting labels on himself. Instead, he sees love as a language he’s “fluent” in, no matter the gender.
“To be honest with you, bro, it’s not even me that’s opening my heart,” August shared about his new relationship. “It’s that power that’s higher than myself. The greatest gift God gave me was exposure—to different people, places, things. So when people ask if I’m gay, straight, or bi, love is way deeper than that. For me, love speaks, and I’m just fluent in it.”
Nick then asked why people are so hung up on labels, saying, “Why do us as humans have to have such direct answers or definitions, like, ‘Are you straight?’”
August’s response was straight to the point saying, “You can’t take it personal because we haven’t all been exposed to the same things. People have a very narrow way of seeing things.”
He made it clear that it’s not about labels; it’s about the genuine connection he shares with someone, no matter who they are.
