Pras recently opened up about his alleged diss track “Bar Mitzfa,” which dropped after Lauryn Hill canceled the Fugees’ North American tour dates.
In the song, he raps, “Don’t blame me, blame her, she made the mess/ Not another f**king penny, is what I told ‘Clef/ Trotting the globe with the bros, playing dominoes.”
However, in a recent sit-down, Pras told Vulture, “It’s not a diss track… You’re family, you have internal disagreements, but it’s not going to be on a level where I’m dissing her.” He explained that the track was just him expressing himself, “Sometimes we say things because that’s how we express ourselves.”
According to Pras, his frustrations have been building up for awhile. “This is not something that just happened overnight,” he said. “My frustration was for the fans. They are paying their hard-earned money to see you.” He added that during the writing process, “those lines just came out.”
Pras also admitted he had doubts about doing the tour from the jump.
“There’s magic when the three of us are onstage,” he said, but shared that they’ve stopped asking Lauryn if she’ll even show up on time. “It gets to a point that you say, is it even really all worth it?”
When Lauryn canceled this year’s shows, Pras said he was “both surprised and not surprised.”
It looks like Pras is sticking to his guns and speaking his truth.
