Each autumn, the pumpkin spice craze extends beyond coffee and muffins, inspiring a range of food products and even household items, all scented with the cozy fall spices.
When pumpkin spice goods hit shelves, it typically signals the arrival of cooler weather, warm-toned leaves, and perfect boot weather. Starbucks is largely credited with kicking off the wave with the introduction of its Pumpkin Spice Latte in 2003. Since then, countless other companies have followed suit.
You may remember in 2019 when pumpkin spice Spam made headlines. It is cinnamon, clove, allspice, and nutmeg-flavored canned pork. Walmart and Spam’s online store carried the odd product for a limited time. While it doesn’t appear to be making a comeback, this weird meal gained its due notoriety.
Last year, Baskin-Robbins took its pumpkin spice offering to a new level by introducing its Turkey Day Fixins. The frozen treat combined hints of sweet potato and autumn spice with chunks of honey cornbread and swirls of cranberry sauce. It’s unknown if Turkey Day Fixins will be returning as a seasonal regular, though judging by the positive feedback, it’s possible.
Outside of food, personal wipes have also received a pumpkin spice makeover. Dude Wipes flushable cleansing clothes are now available in the scent, leaving a cinnamony aroma in private areas.
Another intimate product on the market has been developed by the popular Etsy store UnkindCandles. Their “Pumpkin Slut” pumpkin spice-scented candle. While we haven’t smelled it yet, there have been over 400 orders, most of which are positive.
Woodlands Beard Co. Store has Sweet Pumpkin Spice Latte Beard Oil for men who wish to keep their beards smelling of the fall throughout the day. The product is made of pumpkin seed, sweet almond oil, coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, clove, and sweet orange essential oil.
This seasonal trend is ultimately a symbol of comfort that ties people to the warmth and familiarity of autumn, even in the most unorthodox ways.
