A$AP Rocky Shares How He and Rihanna Are Giving Their Kids a ‘Normal’ Childhood Despite Fame

A$AP Rocky is opening up about his approach to fatherhood, making sure his kids with Rihanna have as normal a childhood as possible, despite their superstar parents.

In a recent interview with Billboard for their September cover story, the 35-year-old rapper talked about raising his two sons—RZA, 2, and Riot Rose, 12 months—with longtime partner Rihanna. Although the couple’s fame could easily overshadow their family life, Rocky insists that their kids are growing up just like any other children.

“Yes, they do,” Rocky said firmly when asked if his kids could enjoy a regular childhood. Reflecting on his own upbringing in Harlem, Rocky shared a clip of his oldest son, RZA, casually walking and playing along a street in SoHo. “They’re still human. They’re human beings,” he emphasized, making it clear that despite their unique circumstances, his kids are just like any other toddlers.

Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, shares a playful yet serious approach to parenting. He joked about his sons’ obsession with the popular kids’ show *Cocomelon*, which has even gotten on his nerves. “That stuff is driving me nuts!” he laughed, before adding that his partner Rihanna probably feels the same way. But beneath the humor, Rocky highlighted how he and Rihanna have found a way to balance their busy lives while prioritizing their family.

“It’s crazy how we find balance with our chaotic schedules. [The relationship] is going great,” Rocky said, praising Rihanna for her understanding and support during hectic times. He added, “When the schedule’s freed up, that’s when you get to spend the most time together. It’s all understanding and compatibility.”

The couple’s strong co-parenting was also showcased earlier this year in Bottega Veneta’s “Portraits of Fatherhood” campaign, where Rocky and his sons were featured in a heartwarming black-and-white photo series. The images captured tender moments between the dad and his boys, who wore adorable onesies that read “best dad” on the back.
