Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors made history, first reported by ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski, agreeing to a one-year, $62.6 million extension.  Curry was only able to sign a one-year extension under his current contract, which has two years left.  He signed a four-year, $215.4 million deal back in August 2021.  The 36-year-old has been the pillar of Golden State’s success.

Bringing them four championships since arriving, Curry has only shown that his value has only risen.  Last season, the sharpshooter averaged 26.4 points on 41% shooting from beyond the arc.  Adding five assists and four rebounds as he enters his 16th season and his first season without Klay Thompson it seemed as if the ten-time All-Star wanted to make sure his contract was secure for the next three years.

Curry joins Kevin Durant and LeBron James as the only players who will surpass the $500 million mark in contract money earned throughout their careers.  This extension will place Curry’s career earnings at $532.7 million.  James will surpass that mark this season, and Durant next season will only be $200,000 short once his deal expires next season.  Durant and Curry will more than likely surpass this monumental feat in the 2026-2027 season.

This deal has Curry and Draymond Green’s contracts expiring at the same time, with the assumption that Green picks up his $27.7 million player option.  The rumors have been swirling since the NBA season ended, and it was the idea of Curry and James teaming up, possibly in Golden State.  It never came to fruition, but at this rate, will there be a big 3 in three years vying to get number five together?

Time will tell, until then Steph and Bron will make history as the next few seasons progress.
