It has been confirmed that rapper and DJ Fatman Scoop has passed away.
Several outlets have learned that Scoop, whose real name was Isaac Freeman III, died following a shocking on-stage collapse. The 53-year-old performer, known for his infectious energy, was performing at Town Center Park in Hamden, Connecticut, on Friday, August 30th, when the incident occurred.
Scoop was delivering his signature upbeat performance when, to the horror of fans and attendees, he suddenly collapsed. Video footage from the event shows the rapper hyping up the crowd before leaning on the DJ booth and collapsing. Concertgoers were left in shock as medics rushed to his aid, administering chest compressions to the unresponsive artist.
Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett initially confirmed the emergency in a Facebook post, asking the public to keep Scoop in their thoughts and prayers. Sadly, despite the medical team’s efforts, Scoop did not survive the medical emergency. The exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but speculation suggests he may have suffered a heart attack.
Scoop’s larger-than-life personality and undeniable impact on the music industry will be deeply missed. Let’s continue to keep his fans and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.
