U-S-H-E-R R-A-Y-M-O-N-D is a name that comes to mind when sex appeal and smooth performances are the topic of discussion. The multi-talented artist has spent the past three decades perfecting the art of seduction, not just in the romantic sense but in how he commands the stage and hypnotizes his audience. But, despite his star power, Usher doesn’t see the art of seduction as an ego-driven act. For him, it’s not about being overly confident but more of an art form that he has perfected through his ability to connect and make each person in the room feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
One of Usher’s most powerful techniques is undivided attention. According to Usher, it’s not about singling someone out but elevating one person’s experience so that everyone in the audience can feel the same energy. “Onstage, if you’re willing to come from the audience and speak to one woman, the entire room is living vicariously through her,” he said in an interview with The Cut.
Similar to an act of service, Usher’s performances are put together in a way that mimics the same outcome. So, with that being said, Usher delivers more than just musical performances; he also provides transformative experiences, leaving the crowd feeling deeply connected to him.
“I say things that I think women would want to hear, that would make them feel good, seen, beautiful, as though a man is caring for this woman,” he added. “I think women are beautiful, and I think that they need to be reminded because, at times, the world might not necessarily give them the recognition and love and nurturing that they need — in a way only I can.”
Despite being humble, Usher is highly aware of his sex appeal but isn’t sure if he brings it on purpose or is “trying to remedy something.” Anyway, he notices that he possesses the “magic touch” and the ability to make people feel something while attending his shows. In fact, Usher’s voice plays a huge part in this and he knows it. Even at the young age of 14, Usher had already made use of his appeal. During his audition for L.A. Reid, Usher not only made a lasting impression with his voice but also by his charm, serenading the women in the office and locking eyes with them.
“When you sing in falsetto, it just does something different to women,” he continued.
Nevertheless, as he recently tied the knot, Usher recognizes that his marriage could be stained by his image. But despite being a husband, Usher says his connection with his fans outshines his personal achievements. His bond with his audience has been at the core of his career and an ongoing relationship he developed long before finding a soulmate.
“I dedicated my life to performing for you and entertaining you. I’m not gonna just leave because I get married,” he stated. “If I want your time, your money, your access, your undivided attention, I want you to know that I see you, I feel you, I’m connecting with you in that moment. I feel in love with music before I fell in love.”
