Kevin Liles, the respected chairman and CEO of 300 Elektra Entertainment, is set to step down by the end of the year. His departure follows an internal memo obtained by Variety, where Liles confirmed he would be leaving after years of heading one of the industry’s most influential labels.

Liles’ exit comes on the heels of other significant shifts within Warner Music. Max Lousada, Warner’s long-serving head of recorded music, and Julie Greenwald, chairman of the Atlantic Recording Group, are both set to leave after decades of leading the company. These moves mark a turning point in Warner’s leadership as CEO Robert Kyncl steps in to realign the company’s future direction.

As part of the transition, 10K Projects founder Elliot Grainge has been brought on to replace Greenwald. Grainge, known for discovering and developing artists like Trippie Redd and Iann Dior, will report directly to Kyncl. However, in Liles’ case, Kyncl made it clear there will be no immediate replacement.

Stepping into leadership at 300 Elektra will be two of Liles’ trusted colleagues, Rayna Bass and Selim Bouab. Both Bass and Bouab have been instrumental in the label’s success and will now co-lead the company as it enters a new chapter. Liles will remain through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition and consult with the team.

In his heartfelt memo to the staff, Liles reflected on his time at the label, acknowledging the team’s achievements. “As committed servants of the culture, we know growing and empowering the next generation of leaders is a responsibility, and when the time is right, we pass the torch,” he wrote. Liles praised both Bass and Bouab, calling them two of the “most talented, home-grown young leaders in the entire music industry.”

With 300 Elektra celebrating its 10th anniversary, Liles expressed confidence in the new leadership, assuring the team that the label would continue its legacy of excellence under Bass and Bouab.
