Diddy's Lawyer Defends Against Sex Trafficking Allegations: 'It’s Nonsense

Marc Agnifilo

Marc Agnifilo, the attorney for Sean “Diddy” Combs, spoke exclusively with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, defending his client in the wake of sex trafficking and racketeering charges. Combs, who was denied bail after pleading not guilty, faces accusations that could land him a minimum of 15 years in prison, with a maximum sentence of life. Despite the serious charges, Agnifilo remains optimistic about the upcoming appeal.

Agnifilo expressed hope for their case, pointing out that the initial bail hearing was handled by a magistrate judge not assigned to Combs’ case long-term. “Tomorrow, we argue in front of Judge Carter, whose case this is until the end,” Agnifilo said, believing they have a “good shot” at securing bail.

Collins pressed Agnifilo on the prosecution’s concerns about Combs being a flight risk, given his wealth, access to private planes, and ability to influence witnesses. Agnifilo quickly dismissed the claims, pointing out that Diddy had already turned in his passport and voluntarily traveled to New York when it became clear he would face charges. “Who, as a danger and a flight risk, would fly to New York and surrender?” he asked rhetorically.

Regarding accusations that Combs bribed hotel staff and attempted to interfere with witnesses, Agnifilo again refuted the claims, saying there was no law enforcement investigation into the alleged incident at the time. He also emphasized that the charges stem from incidents dating back over eight years, specifically involving a toxic relationship with Cassie Ventura, which he insisted was consensual.

Agnifilo dismissed the prosecution’s allegations that Combs coerced women into sex trafficking, labeling it “nonsensical.” He clarified that while the indictment mentions multiple witnesses, there is only one victim in the sex trafficking charge. “There’s not 50 victims. It’s one victim. That’s all that’s in the indictment,” he stated firmly.

When Collins referenced the infamous video involving Combs and Ventura, which showed Diddy in a compromising position, Agnifilo acknowledged the video but downplayed its relevance. He argued that the incident was personal, not criminal, and explained that Ventura was upset about Combs seeing another woman at the time, leading to the altercation. “This isn’t her fleeing from one of these ‘freak-offs.’ Why would she take his clothing?” Agnifilo said, questioning the narrative put forth by prosecutors.

Agnifilo concluded the interview by asserting that Combs’ actions were not part of any sex trafficking operation and that the allegations against him will be proven false. “All of these allegations of ‘I was forced, I was coerced, I had to stay,’ are nonsense,” he stated confidently.

With Diddy’s bail appeal scheduled and his attorney ready to challenge the claims, this high-profile case will continue to dominate headlines as it unfolds.
