Method Man wasn’t about to let TMZ twist the narrative this week when they cornered him with questions about Diddy’s controversies affecting the entire hip-hop culture.
The Wu-Tang icon made it crystal clear: one person’s actions don’t define an entire genre.
When asked if Diddy’s drama could damage hip hop’s image, Method Man didn’t hold back, shutting down the idea, “I don’t think that it has anything to do with hip hop,” Method Man told TMZ. “What are we talking about here, really.”
He wasn’t falling for the bait, drawing a clear line between personal behavior and a culture that’s way bigger than any one individual.
“It has nothing to do with hip hop,” he asserted. “I don’t see the correlation.”
Meth even took it a step further, comparing the situation to R. Kelly and how R&B continues to thrive, regardless of his crimes. He pointed out how people are still streaming Kelly’s music, separating the art from the artist.
“If we’re talking about music and creative and stuff,” Meth noted. “There are people still listening to R. Kelly sh*t.”
