Today’s New Music Friday is a treat for club-goers, with several of our favs offering fresh anthems.
Hours after GloRilla announced her debut album, “Glorious,” she unveiled the first single from the project. “Hollon” has been teased online for several weeks, even sparking controversy for having the “R-word” included in a snippet. Not one to disappoint her fans, Glo quickly changed the lyrics before the full single was unveiled, and now, “Hollon” joins her growing list of smash hits.
Rapper Future continued his full-length project run with “Mixtape Pluto.” With production from hitmakers such as Southside and Wheezy, this 17-track project serves as his third selection of the year. He and Metro Boomin collaborated for “We Don’t Trust You” in March, with “We Still Don’t Trust You” the following month. With “Mixtape Pluto,” Future is moving away from the R&B vibes felt on the last project, staying true to the title and returning to his trap rap roots. To further highlight his hip-hop beginnings, Future uses the Dungeon Family house on the cover, For those unfamiliar with Atlanta’s music history, the residence is a landmark, as it is where the rap collective used to record their music. Today, it includes a full studio and Outkast-themed rooms. Making this release even more exciting, Future released a visual for the lead single, “Too Fast.”
Elsewhere in north rap, Meek Mill returned with a new track, “Cyber Truck.” This serves as his first solo delivery since May’s “5AM In Philly.” In recent weeks, Meek has dropped hints about a possible full-length body of work. Though its unclear when this will arrive, “Cyber Truck” is a welcome release for Meek fans who need their fix of his Philly flows.
Whether you’re a Southern rap fan or more into up-north vibes, today’s New Music Friday has quite a bit to choose from.
