Rapper and activist David Banner believes the Black community is too quick to call out their own people.
In a video shared on his social media platforms, the “Like a Pimp” star explained how people within the culture “salivate at the mouth to tear each other down.” He also suggests that those within the community typically know about wrongdoing for years without taking action to stop it.
“What makes me upset is within our community, just about anybody that the world decides is wrong, if they were doing something wrong, we knew about it in our community for 10, 15 years and didn’t do s**t about it. And as soon as the rest of the world decides that they want to go on a witch hunt, then we try to beat them to the punch. And we go out our way to tell jokes and laugh and criticize. That s**t is sad,” he explained.
Banner didn’t say any names, though there are several individuals he could be speaking about. Given the legal drama surrounding Diddy, he could be referring to the disgraced mogul. Since his many cases have been made public, countless people have weighed in about his sexual assault lawsuits and subsequent arrest. 50 Cent is even working on a documentary about Diddy’s alleged crimes as well.
For now, Banner is not calling out anyone specifically. Instead, he says he chooses to speak less since everyone else has a “f**kin’ opinion about everything.”
