Bank of America customers faced a stressful situation on Wednesday as many reported being unable to access their accounts or were shocked to see $0 balances when they logged in. The issue, which started shortly after noon Eastern Time, sparked panic across social media, with users venting their frustrations and concerns.
“Some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today,” Bank of America said in a statement. “These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
The outage was first flagged by DownDetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions. By 3 p.m., nearly 5,000 Bank of America customers had reported problems. Some users couldn’t sign in at all, while others managed to log in only to find their account balances showing $0—a shocking and stressful sight for anyone expecting to see their hard-earned money.
By late afternoon, Bank of America stated that the issue had largely been resolved, but the experience left many feeling uneasy. For now, it seems like the glitch was temporary, but the incident has sparked conversations about the reliability of online banking services.
