Jimmy Butler just flexed his wine game, and it’s on a whole other level.
The Miami Heat star recently gave Architectural Digest a look inside his California home, featuring one of his favorite spots—a personal wine cellar, and it’s the definition of luxury.
During the tour, Butler shared some stories behind his collection and the wines that hold special meaning to him.
Butler’s wine cellar, which can store up to 20,000 bottles, reflects his laid-back yet sophisticated style. He explained how he wanted a darker, more relaxed vibe for the space, joking that if any wine spills, “You can’t really tell because of the dark brick!” He’s been working with sommelier Chris Hoel, who helps him curate his growing collection of “expensive grape juice,” as Butler calls it.
One of Butler’s favorite wines is a 2010 Sassicaia, which he first tried with Mark Wahlberg while Wahlberg was filming Transformers in 2013. Butler shared a funny moment from that experience: when Wahlberg offered him a glass of wine, Butler was about to say no, but his friend quickly stepped in, saying, “Yes, you do. You don’t tell Mark Wahlberg you don’t drink wine!”
As Butler continued the tour, he showed off the different sections of his cellar, including areas for California, Italy, and Bordeaux wines. One of his most prized bottles is a 1973 Mouton Rothschild, featuring artwork by Picasso. While Butler admitted he doesn’t quite know how to pronounce it, he appreciates its significance.
Butler also highlighted two special bottles: one from a series dedicated to soccer star Neymar, which Butler managed to get in Neymar’s jersey number, 10. Another bottle, from 2019, was made to honor the birth of his daughter, Rylee Butler, with only 33 bottles in existence—again, Butler owns bottle number 10.
For Butler, his wine cellar isn’t just about collecting rare bottles—it’s about the memories and personal connections behind them. With 6,100 bottles currently in his collection, Butler’s wine cellar is a reflection of his personal taste and experiences, making it a unique and cherished part of his home.
