Before influencers were launching beauty brands left and right, video vixen-turned-entrepreneur Keyshia Ka’oir Davis launched a cosmetics line for those who valued unconventional colors
Keyshia founded her famous Ka’oir Cosmetics in 2011 because she needed blue lipstick, which she couldn’t locate anywhere. Her idea arose when she mixed blue eyeshadow with clear lipgloss to achieve the perfect look. From there, Ka’oir Cosmetics was born. The signature blue was named Ka’oir Doll, becoming a brand standout.
Another signature shade was her white lipstick, which was also taboo before she launched her company. Still available on her website in the hue Virgin, this also became a staple and was one of the lipsticks used to help the model make $1 million in just six months of business.
Another darling was the Glitzstick line. This consists of lipsticks and accompanying glitter meant to be applied on top of the lipstick. Keyshia, also known for her glitter pout, landed another bestseller with this innovation.
In the years that have followed, the beauty industry has continued to evolve, and Ka’oir Cosmetics has done the same. Keyshia has since introduced a string of goodies to her company, including Ka’oir Lashes, Matte Liquid Lipstick, the Glow Collection, which features highlighter and eyeshadow, and the Lip Pop. While neon makeup looks might not be the current everyday trend, Keyshia keeps her day-one audience happy with bright pigments while catering to those who prefer softer glam.
She has added a fitness and hair company to her empire, though Ka’oir Cosmetics holds a special place in the hearts of Keyshia’s fans.
