Method Man has opened up about his battle with depression throughout the years.
In a recent interview on “Fat Joe Talks” on Starz, the Wu-Tang Clan member shared that his depression is something that “never really goes away,” though he experiences it in waves. He recalled a particularly poignant moment when a friend named Dave sent him a meaningful text message during one of his low points.
“It spoke to me, big time,” Method shared, explaining how the message resonated with him. “All I could respond with was, ‘All of this,’ and a heart emoji.”
During the chat, Method also revealed that he is working on a memoir. While the title isn’t finalized, he mentioned it might be called “Bring The Pain,” a nod to both his career and the emotional struggles he’s faced. The memoir is expected to delve deeper into his experience with depression, including how it began.
The “C.R.E.A.M.” star has been vocal about mental health in the past. In an August 2023 interview with “Men’s Health,” he admitted that it took him a long time to realize what he was going through.
“It went from this childhood joy to this euphoric feeling of celebrity, to feeling inadequate and not good enough. I didn’t even realize I had been depressed since I was young. A lot of unresolved PTSD started resurfacing,” he explained.
