Nick Sirianni's Post-Game Outburst at Fans Sparks Backlash from Former Players

The Philadelphia Eagles narrowly defeated the depleted Cleveland Browns, edging out a 20-16 victory. It was quarterback Jalen Hurts‘ cleanest game of the season, finishing with 264 passing yards while completing 16 of his 25 attempts. Hurts was happy to have his top target, AJ Brown, back in action, who finished with six receptions for 116 yards.

However, the positive energy from the win didn’t last long once the team got to the locker room. Head coach Nick Sirianni was seen shouting at Eagles fans in the stands. As we all know, Philadelphia sports fans are among the toughest in the country. They love you when you’re up, but they’ll let you know when you’re down.

That’s just the nature of sports, and something players, coaches, and personnel deal with constantly. But what you don’t do is respond to fans as if you’re on the same level. There’s a level of professionalism that needs to be maintained. ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky echoed this sentiment on First Take this morning.

“Terrible look for Sirianni,” the former quarterback said. “In relation to the game, shoutout to AJ Brown—worth every penny. Jalen Hurts, cleanest game of the year. I always knew the Eagles would miss Jason Kelce on the field as a Hall of Fame center. I never realized how much Sirianni would miss him off the field. Kelce is one of the great Philadelphia athletes who understands that fan base. He knows that when you’re good, no one will cheer for you more, and when you’re bad, they’ll let you know. There’s something beautiful about that. For Nick Sirianni to act that way after barely beating Cleveland by four points, talking to the fans like that? It’s ridiculous.”

ESPN’s Damien Woody didn’t hold back on Get Up, calling Sirianni’s behavior “clownish.”

“It’s clown behavior,” Woody said. “Nick Sirianni looked like an absolute clown doing that. To argue with people who spend their hard-earned money to watch you play? If you don’t perform well, they have every right to boo you—and you have to take it. That’s part of the job.”

Damien Woody on Nick Sirianni jawing with Eagles fans: “It’s clown behavior. Nick Sirianni looked like an absolute clown doing all of that… and then to have your kids in the postgame to kind of deflect from reporters trying to come after you, it’s lame, it’s weak, he’s a clown.… pic.twitter.com/ltRUYCTYKt

Sirianni brought his children to his post-game press conference after the win to deflect from his behavior at the end of the game, but Woody did not have that.

“And then to have your kids in the postgame to kind of deflect from reporters trying to come after you, it’s lame, it’s weak, he’s a clown. It just looks ridiculous.”

Dan mentioned the aura of this uppity and disrespectful notion that Sirianni who started off this year underachieving as he has constantly the last two years to talk to loyal fans that bought tickets on the road to see you talk to them in a manner as if they owe you a lack of awareness for the city you represent. Look at the video of the head coach of the Eagles and ESPN’s Orlovsky’s take this morning.
