We are roughly two weeks into October, and spooky season is in full effect. As everyone is searching for a harmless scare, theme parks across the country are turning up the heat on the fright factor with Halloween-themed attractions that will surely satisfy thrill seekers. From mazes to haunted houses, this year’s season is filled with ways to make sure you get a good scare.
Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights
Located in Orlando, Florida, and Hollywood, California, Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights is full of nightmares. Each year, the amusement park partners with some big names in horror to create intense scare zones and haunted houses. This time around, visitors can expect to immerse themselves in scenes from thriller films including “A Quiet Place,” “Insidious,” and “Ghostbusters.” The theme park will also feature live entertainment and horror-themed food and drinks.
Knott’s Scary Farm
Knott’s Scary Farm is a Halloween tradition in Southern California that has been known to give attendees a spine-chilling thrill for decades. The park transforms its grounds into a foggy, eerie landscape filled with monsters, killer clowns, and shadow figures lurking in the background. Attendees can expect to experience 10 mazes, 5 scare zones, and “one-of-a-kind” shows.
Six Flags Fright Fest
Spanning multiple cities from September 14 to November 3rd, Six Flags Fright Fest is an attraction that is a must-see during spooky season. Similar to Universal Studios, Six Flags will host haunted houses inspired by popular horror films like Saw and the television show Stranger Things. But the coolest thing about Fright Fest is that they add spooky twists to their rides. Particularly, at Six Flags Great Escape, the Grand Carousel and the Steamin’ Demon will feature a haunted shift that will leave riders screaming.
Disneyland’s Oogie Boogie Bash
For those looking for a simple scare, Disneyland’s Oogie Boogie Bash is the perfect place for you and the kiddos. The event’s vibe differs from the traditional haunts that are all-inclusive, no matter the age group. The grounds is decked out with Halloween décor and some of our favorite villains. Additionally, the event will also feature a “frightfully fun parade” and “immersive treat trails” to magnify your Halloween spirit. The Oogie Boogie Bash will take place on select nights and will span for 5 hours, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
