The twists in Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial just keep getting wilder.
On Friday, a key witness for the prosecution, Antonio Sledge, popularly known as Mounk Tounk, was sentenced to five years in prison after his testimony didn’t align with the facts laid out in his plea deal.
According to Atlanta’s Fox 5, Judge Paige Reese Whitaker made the decision after Sledge’s on-the-stand behavior seriously backfired. He had previously secured a deal that spared him from prison time in exchange for his testimony about YSL and the murder of Donovan “Nut” Thomas, who has been a focal point of this case. But when it came time to testify, Sledge repeatedly claimed, “I don’t recall” regarding crucial details surrounding the 2015 slaying. Sledge also claimed to have previously lied about key details in the case.
Judge Whitaker didn’t hold back, expressing her disappointment over Sledge’s actions and stressing the importance of the oath he took. She made it clear that he had been warned his 15 years of probation could be revoked, and his lack of concern for the judicial process led to his immediate incarceration.
“There is not a proper regard for the judicial system and the seriousness with which an oath in court needs to be taken,” Whitaker stated.
Adding to the drama, earlier this month, a former corrections officer was also caught up in the chaos, charged with taking bribes to smuggle drugs into the Fulton County Jail.
