Tiffany Haddish, known for her controversially straightforward humor, recently shared an unusual tale from a trip to Africa.
According to Haddish, she encountered a driver whose body odor was overwhelming, to the point that she described it as “burning her nose.” In response, she claims she questioned the man about what he had been doing to make him smell that way and decided to offer a solution: peroxide and baking soda, a mix often used for cleaning purposes.
“Can I give you a bath?” she asked the man, “I will scrub you, baking soda and peroxide in the water.”
While this is very on-brand for Haddish, her actions have sparked some mixed reactions. Some see it as typical of her comedic and brash style, while others find the gesture culturally insensitive, suggesting a need for a greater understanding of local customs and sensitivities.
@TiffanyHaddish is probably the most vile and ignorant celebrity you’ll ever see. Next time the Country you’re in. Africa is not a Country. Fool! https://t.co/vVFSWFDixY

Nevertheless, Haddish claims she told the driver not to return to work the following day unless he smelled better. Luckily, she claims he improved his odor upon his return, which resulted in her giving him a $50 tip.
It’s not unusual for Haddish to tackle uncomfortable situations with humor and candor, and she’s known for not holding back when recounting her experiences. However, this story has added to conversations about respecting cultural differences when traveling abroad, even as it showcases her no-holds-barred personality.
