Attorney Shawn Holley recently addressed an ethics complaint filed by Tory Lanez, asserting that she had no conflicts of interest while representing him. Speaking through reporter Loren Lorosa, Holley stated, “I have never had business ties to Roc Nation,” referring to Lanez’s claims that she prioritized the interests of Megan Thee Stallion’s label, Roc Nation, over his during his trial.
Holley, a co-producer of the TV show Reasonable Doubt, clarified that the show’s title is unrelated to the Roc Nation brand, despite the name being similar to JAY-Z’s album.
Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, had previously filed a similar complaint over a year ago, which the State Bar reviewed and dismissed, according to Holley.
Holley stepped down from representing Lanez during his trial, reportedly over a difference in defense strategies, specifically a “Kelsey defense” approach that she found unworkable. Lanez is now working with a new legal team while serving a 10-year sentence.
