It appears that 50 Cent is unbothered by the fact that the Power franchise can’t seem to get any love from award shows.
Gianni Paolo, who stars in Power Book II: Ghost, recently shared his frustration in a TMZ interview, calling out how the Power universe is still treated like a second-class show in Hollywood despite its insane viewership numbers.
We’re talking 10.4 million views, consistently high ratings, and a diehard fanbase.
“Why are we not on Jimmy Fallon?” Paolo asked. “Why are we not on Jimmy Kimmel? Why are we constantly put down and not brought to light? If any other show did 10.4 million views… these kids would never ever have to audition again.”
Paolo didn’t hold back, listing out other Black-led shows like The Wire and Snowfall that also went unrecognized by awards. “Is it the Black audience they don’t like? Is it the Black show? I don’t know what it is, I just wanna ask the questions,” he said.
Fifty, never one to stay silent, took to Instagram with his response, sharing the interview clip and adding his thoughts in the caption: “It’s diversity, we are still working past old school thinking. I’m fine with surpassing other shows’ true accomplishments by reaching a bigger audience. @giannivpaolo is the truth!”
Fans are tuned in, and they’re just as surprised that a show with a franchise as successful as Power has yet to get a single nomination or award.
