As the 2024 presidential election is drawing closer, craziness is happening all across the country, from ballot boxes being set on fire to the latest poll altercation.
On Wednesday, a video that has now gone viral shows an altercation taking place at a South Carolina polling station after a man refused to take off his “Let’s Go Brandon” hat before voting. While the hat may seem harmless, the phrase is used as a shorthand for “F**k Joe Biden,” and if you’re unaware, the statement violates a state law that prohibits political merch at polling locations.
In the video, the Black poll workers asked the unknown male to remove his cap several times. Instead of following their orders, the white man became angry and started cursing at the women. Despite his temper, the poll workers continued to ask the man to take off his hat. But, unfortunately, the situation escalated with the man lashing out and calling one of the women a “f**king b***h.”
“Shut the hell up and let me vote!” he continued.
Additionally, he hurled his hat at another voter waiting in line. The argument intensified when the man pointed his finger at the woman, prompting her to hit him. The other workers quickly intervened to separate the two, but the voter got away to follow the woman around the room. The video concluded with him being escorted out of the station by workers.
South Carolina’s law requires voters to refrain from wearing any political affiliation apparel, such as candidate names. Although the hat didn’t directly mention the president, the phrase has been widely known to be an anti-Joe slogan since 2021 after an NBC reporter mistakenly interpreted “F**k Joe Biden” as “Let’s Go Brandon” during a NASCAR interview.
