Bernice King is slamming an AI-generated video showing her civil rights leader father, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., giving a speech in support of Donald Trump.
The shocking footage, shared online by the pro-Trump Twitter account MAGA Resource, is captioned “Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream and if he could speak today.” In the clip, the poorly computer-generated voice of Dr. King shares a message calling out people who speak against the controversial former president.
“We’ve been told again and again that we cannot vote for the man that did more for the Black community than any other president. If a Black man does speak out in support of Donald Trump, a democrat is always there to call that man an ‘Uncle Tom,’ a ‘House Negro’ or even worse,” the deepfake MLK states.
This drew harsh criticism online, catching the eye of Bernice, an activist herself. She called out the page for using her father’s likeness to spread the message.
“Delete this, @MAGAResource. It’s vile, fake, irresponsible, and not at all reflective of what my father would say. And you gave no thought to our family,” she wrote on Twitter.
