Three Delaware school employees were arrested following claims of abusive treatment towards special needs students. According to reports, Makayla Lomax, Marrisa Johnson, and Morgan Donahue were taken into custody by the Smyrna Police Department on charges related to child endangerment.

The investigation kicked off back in February with authorities uncovering disturbing behavior patterns from the individuals. The police stated that Lomax, Johnson, and Donahue were all workers assigned to the special needs students. While their duties required assisting the kids, the three employees were allegedly throwing objects, yelling, and calling the children names. One report said Johnson and Donahue gave a student with a known digestive condition spicy Takis with hot sauce. Additionally, Lomax is accused of striking a student and spraying water in their face in an act of “discipline.”

Last week, the Smyrna School District issued a statement, addressing the situation and made it clear that they’re conducting a full investigation.

“The relevant employees have not been in the presence of our students since the district was made aware of the alleged wrongdoing,” the school district said. “Most individuals alleged to be involved no longer work for the District. With regard to the remaining employees, the District will honor employee privacy rights with regard to separation of employment, and we will make our reports to the Department of Education’s Division of Licensure and Certification.”

As of now, Lomax, who seems to be the ringleader, is facing additional charges of third-degree child abuse and offensive touching. It remains unclear if the trio has entered a plea deal or obtained legal representation.
