In the wake of Young Thug’s release from jail, Drake has reportedly made a grand gesture to welcome the rapper back home.

According to DJ Akademiks, the OVO boss allegedly handed over one million dollars to Thugger not too long after he got out of the slammer. On a live stream, Akademiks shared the rumor, revealing that he didn’t hear it from Drake specifically but has made it clear that they are close.
“Y’all want to hear this play I heard?” Akademiks said. “Watch, he gon’ hit me up, like, ‘Yo, how you heard?’ ‘Cause he ain’t tell me. That’s my mans. When Thug gets let out of jail, the talk is this. They say two hours afterward, Drake flew to Thug and allegedly gave him a mil’. Drake didn’t tell me this. Drake gon’ hit me up and be, like, ‘Who told you this?'”
From those who follow Drake on social media, the revelation doesn’t come as a surprise. Back in August, while Thugger was still fighting for his freedom in the courtroom, Drake took to his Instagram Story to show his support for his friend. In the post, the Toronto rapper seemingly implied that he was “putting up” money for Thugger’s legal case.
“I ain’t talking to talk man I really put up [bread emoji] on the [briefcase emoji] 3 Jeff,” he wrote at the time.
Additionally, Drake showed support for Thugger in his own way, dropping a “Free Big Slime” bar in his “Sticky” track on his “Honestly, Nevermind” album. Nonetheless, it remains unclear if Akademiks was telling the truth about the cash, but it wouldn’t be a shock to most.
