Quando Rondo recently sat down with Akademiks for what appears to be his first interview since Lil Durk was indicted for an alleged attempt on his life. In a surprising twist, Rondo seems to be standing up for the Chicago rapper.
When the conversation turned to Durk, Rondo quickly pointed out that both he and his opp have too much at stake.
“That man got kids and the mama that I know 100% love him,” Rondo stated.
He later elaborated that their conflict might have been avoided if it had stayed within the realm of music.
“At the end of the day, bro, all this bullsh** that we talking about is stupid—that it could have been handled a totally different way. It could have been handled to the point where a song and three, four million dollars could have come out of the s**t or whatever. It could have got handled in a legit way, in a music way, in a boss way,” he explained, noting he wasn’t fully aware of the alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Durk was arrested at the end of October, with federal investigators accusing him of hiring OTF members to murder Rondo in retaliation for the November 2020 killing of King Von. During that incident, Rondo’s friend, Lul Tim, was identified as the shooter. The tragic encounter escalated into a bitter feud between Rondo and Durk, with further heartbreak in September 2022 when Rondo’s cousin Saviay’a Robinson, known as Lul Pab, was murdered during an ambush allegedly orchestrated by Durk.
