Legendary Producer Quincy Jones’ Cause of Death Revealed

Quincy Jones, the legendary music producer, has passed away at age 91 due to pancreatic cancer, according to his death certificate obtained by PEOPLE and first reported by TMZ.

Jones died on November 3 at his Los Angeles home, surrounded by loved ones.

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing,” his family said in a statement. “Although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.”

Jones’ family described him as “truly one of a kind,” adding that his immense contributions to music and his boundless love touched the lives of many worldwide. “Through his music and his boundless love, Quincy Jones’ heart will beat for eternity.”

The legendary producer, known for his impact on music, film, and culture, was laid to rest in a private family ceremony in Los Angeles attended by his seven children, his brother, two sisters, and other close family members. The family expressed their gratitude for the worldwide outpouring of condolences and confirmed that details for a larger public memorial celebration will be announced soon.

Jones is survived by his seven children: Jolie, 71, Rachel, 61, Martina, 58, Quincy III, 56, Kidada, 50, Rashida, 48, and Kenya, 31. Actress and daughter Rashida Jones paid tribute to her late father in a heartfelt Instagram post, calling him “a giant. An icon. A culture shifter. A genius.” She added, “I’ll miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice. Daddy, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever.”
