Katt Williams is no stranger to being in the headlines, but this time, the controversial comedian is making waves for his recent comments about the sketch show, ‘Saturday Night Live.’
On Saturday, Katt appeared at the Vulture Festival and discussed everything from his career to his previous ‘Club Shay Shay’ interview. But what stood out during the conversation was Katt’s comments about SNL. The comedian took a moment to criticize the show for its multiple parodies of him despite never being invited as a special guest.
“There has never been a person that has been parodied nine times on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and yet never been invited other than me,” Katt said. “So I, at this point, take it as a badge of honor that they don’t f*ck with me.”
Even though he admitted to feeling flattered by the attention, Katt also seemingly hinted at being disrespected, pointing out that a female cast member performed one impression.
“A lot of times when people are doing an impression of you, they’re really showing you how they feel about you. So for ‘Saturday Night Live’ to have an impression of me and have a woman do that, means they think I’m a b*tch. And I understand what they’re saying when they do that,” he added.
Shortly after Vulture shared a clip of the interview, the post was met with immediate responses from social media users, with some believing Katt should “lighten up” and others saying, he “should do some self reflection.”
While Katt’s statement may have some truth, the comment isn’t entirely true. Over the years, multiple ‘SNL’ cast members, both men and women, have portrayed the comedian. One of the most memorable Katt Williams’ impressions was Jay Pharoah’s 2012 “Weekend Update” sketch and another segment titled “Pimpin’ Pimpin’ Pimpin’,” a play on Katt’s standup special. Two years later, Drake portrayed Katt in a sketch and Chris Redd took on the role in 2022 during a Zoë Kravitz monologue.
Nonetheless, despite the misinterpretation, Katt isn’t bothered by not being included since his ” job is to be worthy.”
“And I understand that that’s what they’re saying when they do that, you know? So, yeah, it doesn’t bother me at all. I understand how the game goes and I understand that if you love me I know why you do, and if you don’t f*ck with me I understand how the game goes,” he said.
