Comedian Martin Lawrence is working on a new project with Eddie Murphy, a “Blue Streak” sequel, to be exact.

The comedy legends are officially teaming up again, with Lawrence confirming the exciting news during a recent appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show.” When Hudson brought up the topic of the two comedians’ kids dating—Martin’s daughter, Jasmin, and Eddie’s son, Eric—she also asked if the fathers themselves were collaborating on anything new.
Lawrence dropped the bombshell: “We’re gonna do a sequel to ‘Blue Streak.’ We’re writing it right now.”
The original crime comedy debuted in 1999. The film follows a diamond heist gone wrong, starring Lawrence star alongside Luke Wilson, Dave Chappelle, Nicole Ari Parker, and more. While Murphy wasn’t part of that project, the two have shared the screen in hits like 1992’s “Boomerang” and their cult classic, “Life” in 1999.
Beyond their professional collaboration, their families have been a topic of public interest. Jasmin and Eric’s relationship has sparked rumors about possible wedding bells this year, though Lawrence clarified there’s no engagement yet. Even so, it’s clear the couple is serious about their future.
“Eddie’s son is a great young man,” Lawrence shared, later adding that he and Murphy are overprotective but allow their children to find their own way.
It’s unclear when “Blue Streak 2” will be released in theaters. However, given their on-screen chemistry, the film is sure to be a classic.
