The Colorado Buffaloes shocked the college football world today by securing five-star quarterback Julian Lewis. After Southern Cal was penalized last week and hit with a one-year postseason suspension, Lewis reopened his recruitment.
Head Coach Deion Sanders is no stranger to flipping top recruits to his program. He pulled off a similar move with Heisman contender Travis Hunter, flipping him from Florida State while Sanders was still coaching at Division II Jackson State. Lewis, a Georgia native, instantly makes the Buffaloes one of the top contenders for transfer players entering the portal this offseason.
Lewis leaves high school with over 10,000 passing yards. While not the most elusive player, much like Sanders, he has an excellent sense of pressure in the pocket. His field-scanning abilities continue to improve, and his mechanics are above average. With his potential to develop into a high-level pro, Lewis could be the key piece to the program’s future—and possibly the one to persuade Sanders to stay long-term.
