A few days after the first round of the NFL Draft, questions remain about who hacked the social media accounts of Miami Dolphins first round pick Laremy Tunsil.
Just before the draft began on Thursday night, a video appeared on Tunsil’s Twitter account that appeared to show him smoking marijuana through a gas mask bong. His draft stock slid, but the Dolphins still took the Ole Miss offensive tackle with the 13th overall pick. Soon after, Tunsil’s Instagram account posted screenshots of text messages that suggested money had been exchanged between Tunsil and an Ole Miss assistant athletic director.
Some people pointed to Tunsil’s stepfather, Lindsey, who has a long running dispute with Tunsil and is suing him over an alleged assault. Lindsey denied any role when he spoke to TMZ Sports. “I don’t know nothing about no video,” he said, adding that he was not even watching the draft.
The Dolphins have reportedly done some digging of their own and are said to believe the culprit may be a former financial adviser Tunsil let go shortly before the draft, who could have had access to his accounts. The adviser has not been publicly identified, and no one has been charged.
An attorney for Tunsil says his client plans to pursue federal charges once the person responsible is found.
