Boxing Champ Roy Jones Jr. Challenges Jake Paul: "I Don’t Think Mike Checked His Chin at All"

Former boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. is challenging Jake Paul to a fight following his victory over Mike Tyson.

Paul, a YouTuber turned boxer, is fresh off of the heels of a win over 58-year-old Tyson, outpointing Tyson to advance to 11-1 in his professional boxing career. This does not scare Jones Jr., who expressed his desire to face the fighter.

Jones (66-10) last fought in an exhibition match against Tyson in November 2020. His last professional fight was a loss to former UFC champion Anthony Pettis in April 2023. Despite his lackluster recent record, Jones still wants a shot at Paul.

“I don’t think Mike checked his chin at all,” Jones told TMZ Sports. “So, I wouldn’t mind having a shot to see if I could get to his chin, to test his chin.”

Tens of millions of viewers tuned in for the Paul vs. Tyson competition on Netflix, with Tyson reportedly earning a $20 million paycheck. This is likely the motivator for Jones Jr., who could take home similar profits. He made $3 million for his 2020 fight, while Tyson was paid $10 million. Both men lasted eight rounds, ending with a split draw. For his 2023 match against Pettis, Jones Jr. made another impressive $700,000. Therefore, if Paul agrees, both would be in for a large sum.
