Jay-Z Faces New Lawsuit in Paternity Drama From Rymir Satterthwaite, Accused of Using Shady Practices to Avoid DNA Test

Jay-Z’s legal woes continue to mount with a new paternity suit.

Rymir Satterthwaite, a 31-year-old claiming to be the rapper’s illegitimate son, has filed another lawsuit accusing the Roc Nation founder of fraudulent actions during previous paternity cases. This new legal action revives a longstanding dispute involving Satterthwaite, his late mother Wanda, and his legal guardian, Dr. Lillie Coley.

In 2010, Wanda petitioned a Pennsylvania court to require both Hov and another man, Bobby Graves, to take paternity tests to determine her son’s biological father. While Graves complied and was proven not to be the father, the “Change Clothes” star refused. This led to a new case in Camden County, New Jersey, with a pre-trial beginning on August 13th, 2012.

Jay-Z’s attorneys argued at the time that Dr. Coley, who had become Satterthwaite’s legal guardian in 2011, lacked the jurisdiction to pursue the case in New Jersey. They claimed the case should be heard in Pennsylvania, where Wanda had originally filed. Ultimately, the court dismissed the case outright, citing Pennsylvania law, which requires paternity to be established before a child turns 18. Since Satterthwaite was already an adult at the time of the pre-trial, the court ruled the matter invalid.

This latest lawsuit argues that Jay-Z used “fraudulent court actions,” such as sealed records and wrongful sanctions, to obstruct previous attempts to resolve the paternity question. Satterthwaite and his legal team believe their rights were violated and are seeking justice through the new filing.

The timing of this lawsuit adds another layer of legal drama to Jay-Z’s life, as his Roc Nation team is already locked in a high-profile battle with attorney Tony Buzbee.
