Joe Budden Brushes off Arrest as His Lawyer Suggests the Police Chief’s Press Release Was Racially Motivated

Joe Budden’s attorney is slamming the police chief who released a press release about his recent nudity arrest.

The 44-year-old, facing a charge of lewdness stemming from an incident in Edgewater, New Jersey, where he allegedly stood naked outside a neighbor’s apartment, is not happy about the charge. His attorney, Nima Ameri, issued a statement to TMZ, expressing discontent over the egregious announcement made by Edgewater Police Chief Donald A. Martin.

“Mr. Budden is saddened by Police Chief Martin’s press release,” Ameri said. “Mr. Budden has been waiting weeks for his cross complaints to be processed which include substantially more serious charges, including possible felony charges against the persons behind these charges against him. The Chief has in our opinion sat on those but instead used his time to gain some free publicity for himself. Chief Martin should seek publicity by doing notable policing, not inflaming disorderly person allegations.”

Ameri also criticized the charges, claiming they were minor and not even resulting in an arrest.

“The allegations against Mr. Budden are a minor charge, not even resulting in an arrest. A charge Mr. Budden is looking forward to beating in court on the merits, not in the press,” Ameri explained. “The Chief’s comments are reckless, and in our opinion racially motivated.”

Ameri added that Budden’s celebrity status and race appeared to have influenced the Chief’s decision to release the press statement.

The “Pump It Up” star is due in court on January 16th, 2025, for the case. However, he seemingly brushed off the situation on Twitter, writing “Yall so dramatic lol” shortly after the news spread online. Budden has been open several times about his sleepwalking habits, admitting days ago that he’d once again found himself in the peculiar state.
