Legendary actress and singer Sheryl Lee Ralph is being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a well-deserved recognition.

Ralph, known for her role as Barbara Howard, a Philadelphia public school teacher on the comedy sitcom “Abbott Elementary,” will receive this prestigious honor on Wednesday, January 29th. She revealed the news on Twitter, sharing her gratitude for the recognition in the “television” category.

“I am deeply grateful to announce the honor of receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” wrote Ralph, 68, on Sunday. “What a celebration of love, perseverance, and the unwavering support of family, friends, and fans. Thank you! This star shines for us all!”

Ralph’s selection was announced in 2023, chosen by a panel of Walk of Fame members. Star recipients have two years to schedule their ceremony.

A Connecticut native and Rutgers University alum, Ralph’s extensive career includes roles on “It’s a Living,” “New Attitude,” “Instant Mom,” and “Moesha.” In 1982, she earned a Tony nomination for her portrayal of Deena Jones in “Dreamgirls” and later won an Emmy for her “Abbott Elementary” role in 2022. She has also earned Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations.

Guest speakers have yet to be confirmed, though the event will likely be streamed on the Walk of Fame website, which is common for each of the ceremonies.
