Bogalusa, Lousiana's youngest-ever mayor, 25-year-old Tyrin Truong

Bogalusa, Lousiana’s youngest-ever mayor, 25-year-old Tyrin Truong, got hit with some serious charges on Tuesday.

He was arrested for his role in a major drug trafficking ring, facing charges like dealing with proceeds from drug sales, solicitation of prostitution, and unauthorized use of a movable, basically taking someone’s stuff without their permission.

The bust comes after a months-long investigation by Louisiana State Police into a drug-trafficking organization (DTO) in the Bogalusa area.

The group was allegedly pushing everything from opioids and high-grade marijuana to THC products and MDMA. They were even using social media to run the whole operation, from payments to sales, expanding their reach in a big way.

Alongside Truong, six other locals were arrested, all linked to trafficking and some even charged for conspiring to distribute controlled substances. Police say the profits from the drug sales were used to buy firearms, some of which were tied to violent crimes in the area.

Truong’s bond was set at $150,000, and all seven suspects are currently booked in Washington Parish Jail.

Louisiana State Police say the investigation is far from over, with more people and potential leads still under the microscope.
