Rapper Ferg has moved on from his ASAP days.

ASAP is “a thing of the past,” the performer revealed during a lengthy chat with journalist Touré. If you’ve been a fan of his for long enough, then you’re aware he used to go by ASAP Ferg. However, in recent years, he has noticeably dropped the crew’s moniker from his name. When asked if Ferg was still part of the collective, he acknowledged its dissolution.

“Well, I don’t think there is ASAP anymore,” Ferg said. “There’s not a ‘Cozy Tape’ out, a new one. Or there’s not an office, there’s not a record label, ASAP Worldwide. I think it’s a thing of the past.”

Still, the 36-year-old elaborated on the group’s impact, something that is solidified in hip-hop history.

“I think people hold onto the legacy that we created and those things, but when you think about ASAP, from the music point, you think about me and Rocky. Of course, it was built off the backs of Bari and Yams, but we’re the faces.”

Though the squad has disbanded, Ferg noted he still speaks with ASAP Rocky and others.

“We came together as a collective and we loved it. We’ve grown into these different entities. But we came together to do something positive and create opportunities for ourselves, our family, and our friends. So we killed it. We did that for 12 years,” the “Plain Jane” star explained.

ASAP Mob was originally launched in 2006 in Harlem with founder, Steven Rodriguez, professionally known as ASAP Yams. He was responsible for pulling the many artists together. Sadly, Yams passed away on January 18th, 2015, his death arguably creating cracks in the group.
