Universal Music Group Cancels Grammy-Related Events to Support Wildfire Relief Efforts

In a heartfelt move to support Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts, Universal Music Group (UMG) has recently announced the cancellation of all its Grammy-related events. The label, which is responsible for some of the biggest artists in the world, released a statement explaining its decision and redirecting its resources to aid those who were affected by the natural disaster.

“Today we have cancelled all of our Grammy-related events, including the Artist Showcase and After-Grammy Party, and will redirect the resources that would have been used for those events to assist those affected by the wildfires,” UMG shared in a statement. “Our deepest gratitude goes to the first responders and emergency personnel, who continue to perform heroically.”

If you’re unaware, UMG’s annual pre-Grammy Artist Showcase has been a highlight during Grammy Week for some time now. The exclusive occasion serves as a platform to debut emerging talent and spotlight high-profile artists, many are typically Grammy nominees. In the past, the showcases featured special performances and movie trailer premieres produced by the label.

“L.A. is home to so many of us,” the label continued. “We are committed to helping and supporting the music community, our artists, our teams, and the people of Los Angeles get through this horrific episode.”

Additionally, the Recording Academy, which hosts the Grammy Awards, also announced the televised event will raise funds for the wildfire relief. Nonetheless, the Grammy Awards will still take place as planned on February 2nd at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
