Lil Kim is clearing the air after catching heat for her recent comment about the LA wildfires. Earlier this week, the rapper took to X to send prayers to those affected, writing:
“Been sending strong prayers up for LA and everyone affected by the fires. This is heartbreaking. I pray to Jesus that God make it monsoon in LA.”
The post didn’t sit well with many, especially those directly impacted by the fires. Critics were quick to point out that praying for a monsoon—a weather event often associated with heavy rains, flooding, and mudslides—might not be the best solution for an already struggling city.

After the backlash, Kim returned to X to explain, “What’s happening is devastating and what LA really needs right now is rain—so what’s the issue? Doesn’t everyone understand that a monsoon is heavy rain? I’m so happy to see that everyone is staying so positive during such a tragic situation. Let’s keep praying and supporting everyone that has been affected by this.”

While Kim’s clarification was an attempt to bring the focus back to the need for rain, some fans weren’t moved. They pointed out that LA’s last heavy rains caused flooding and mudslides, adding more chaos to an already difficult time.
Although we get what Kim was trying to say, let’s be real—praying for a monsoon probably wasn’t the best way to word it.
Hopefully, the Queen Bee’s heart was in the right place, even if her delivery missed the mark.
