Cam Newton Opens Up About No Longer Feeling Like “Superman” to His Kids After NFL Exit: “Those Checks Don’t Come in the Same”

Cam Newton is opening up about the challenges he’s facing following his departure from the NFL. In a recent episode of ‘Special Forces,’ the 35-year-old former professional athlete got candid about his life changing since wrapping up his NFL career with the Carolina Panthers in 2021. During the conversation, Newton explained that things have been difficult, especially with the financial instability and being a father of eight.

“I’m going into a different phase of my life that’s going to require a different form of myself,” Newton said. “Being in the NFL, everyone knows there’s a large sum of money that comes to you in a short span of time. Being away from the game for three years, those checks don’t come in the same. Like, I got eight kids.”

He continued, “It hurts me knowing that I can’t provide like I once did. It hurts thinking that I’m Superman, but in reality, I’m just a man.”

Despite the rough challenges, Newton is remaining optimistic about his new life and embracing the growth. “There’s a famous quote that says in order to get something that you’ve never had, you’ve got to do something that you’ve never done,” Newton continued. “At 35, I can literally say, ‘Okay, now I’m getting prepared for this next chapter of my life.’”

As of now, Newton shares four children, sons Chosen Sebastian, Camidas Swain, and Cashmere Saint, and daughter Sovereign-Dior Cambella, with his ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor as well as helps her raise her daughter, Shakira. He also shares two sons, Ceasar and Jaden, with photographer LaReina Shaw, with the latter being from Shaw’s previous relationship. More recently, Newton welcomed his last kid with his current girlfriend, Jasmine Brown.
