Kendrick Lamar to Bring SZA Out During Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show

Kendrick Lamar is set to take the stage at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, and he’ll be joined by a familiar face—SZA.

In a teaser video released by Apple Music on January 23, Lamar confirmed that SZA, his tourmate and longtime collaborator, will be part of his halftime show performance. The short clip shows Lamar walking the Superdome field while talking on the phone about his plans for the show. SZA then surprises him with a playful Gatorade shower, confirming her participation. The teaser closes with Lamar’s GNX track “Hey Now” playing in the background.

Lamar and SZA have worked together on several notable tracks over the years, including “All the Stars,” which was featured on the Black Panther soundtrack. Other potential songs the duo could perform include “Doves in the Wind,” “30 for 30,” and “Luther.” While the setlist remains a mystery, fans are excited to see what the two artists will bring to one of the world’s largest stages.

This year’s halftime show is being produced by Roc Nation and Jesse Collins, with creative direction provided by Lamar’s own company, pgLang. The performance marks Lamar’s first time headlining the Super Bowl halftime show. He previously made a guest appearance in 2022 during the West Coast-themed halftime show led by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

In a statement made last September when the news was announced, Lamar shared his excitement: “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date, and I’ll be there to remind the world why.”

The halftime show comes at a busy time for both Lamar and SZA. Lamar is coming off a strong 2024, with the success of his GNX album and multiple Grammy nominations. He’s up for seven awards at this year’s Grammys, which take place just days before the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, SZA is continuing to enjoy widespread acclaim for her music and live performances.

The Super Bowl will also act as a prelude to the duo’s Grand National Tour, which kicks off its North American leg in April. Both artists are gearing up for a string of performances that will showcase their individual and collaborative talents.
