In an unexpected announcement that none of us saw coming, Don Julio Tequila and Popeyes are plotting an iconic collaboration to close out the month.
The two brands teased fans with a video released on January 23rd. It features a woman DJing with bottles of tequila on display, and a sleek black box featuring both logos. Her jacket also sports a Popeyes emblem on the sleeve.
The cryptic caption reads, “The kitchen is heating up for the big game. Party starts 1.31.25,” sparking speculation about a Super Bowl-inspired rollout. As we know, the game is taking place in New Orleans, which has been home to Popeyes since 1972.
Social media lit up with reactions, many noting the collaboration’s timing ahead of Black History Month. Furthermore, commentators praised the exciting partnership as a welcome relief to the toxic political climate we’ve seen since Donald Trump returned to office.
