The conversation took a turn when Kanye shared his thoughts on the 2024 rap beef that had everyone talking.
When about Drake’s battle with Kendrick Lamar, Kanye wasn’t shy to give his opinion.
Despite Drake’s recent loss to Kendrick, Ye believes the OVO rapper still has a shot at bouncing back. “I was like, ‘Man, you killed my nemesis. Where’s the movies if it ain’t no Drake?’” Kanye said, hinting at Drake’s long-term influence. “ Or at least he took him down for a little bit. Maybe it’s like in supehero films where characters like Wolverine or something just goes away for a couple films.”
But when pressed on whether Kendrick had truly ended Drake’s reign, Kanye was candid: “Yeah, for now. You can’t ever count out Steph Curry. That man might get 200 points in one song.”
Ye went on to explain how both Kendrick and other artists have shaped the rap game.
“Drake added something to the algorithm. He advanced it, Future advanced it, and now Kendrick is advancing the frequency.”
He stressed that anyone in the rap game has a lot to learn from Kendrick’s rise. “If you don’t really learn, as a professional rapper, what Kendrick is doing, you might be wiped out.”
But it wasn’t all about the beef, Ye’ made sure to give Kendrick his flowers too. “If you rap against Kendrick, you will lose,” Ye said. He even went as far as comparing Lamar to a Street Fighter character, unless you’re Kanye himself.
“You know, I’m a psycho genius,” Kanye declared. “Do not rap against Kendrick Lamar, unless you’re a psycho genius like me.”
