Elon Musk is stepping into the world of aviation safety. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO took to his social media platform, X, on Wednesday to announce that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will be making rapid upgrades to the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) air traffic control systems.
Musk’s post highlighted the urgency of these improvements, citing a recent failure in the FAA’s Notice to Air Mission system, which caused significant disruptions to flight operations. “With the support of President @realDonaldTrump, the @DOGE team will aim to make rapid safety upgrades to the air traffic control system,” Musk wrote.

Former Real World/Road Rules Star now U.S. Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy also weighed in, stating that he recently spoke with the DOGE team and confirmed their involvement in upgrading aviation infrastructure.
While details on the exact nature of the upgrades remain unclear, a White House spokesperson reinforced DOGE’s broader mission, emphasizing that the initiative is focused on making the government more efficient and accountable. “DOGE is fulfilling President Trump’s commitment to making government more accountable, efficient, and, most importantly, restoring proper stewardship of the American taxpayer’s hard-earned dollars,” the spokesperson said.
Elon Musk has played a significant role in U.S. aerospace and defense sectors through SpaceX, which regularly contracts with NASA and the Department of Defense.
