Igloo Recalls Over 1 Million Coolers After Reports of Fingertip Amputations

Igloo cooler

Igloo is recalling more than 1 million of its rolling coolers after multiple reports of serious injuries, including fingertip amputations. The Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers are being pulled from shelves across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico due to a tow handle defect that can pinch users’ fingers, posing a severe risk of crushing injuries and amputations.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Igloo has received 12 reports of injuries in the U.S., including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations. While no injuries have been reported in Canada or Mexico, the company is urging all consumers to stop using the coolers immediately and request a free replacement handle.

The now-recalled coolers were sold at Costco, Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon, and other major retailers between 2019 and January 2025, priced between $80 and $140. In total, about 1.06 million units were purchased in the U.S., with 47,000 in Canada and 23,000 in Mexico.

Consumers can register for the recall online or contact Igloo directly at 888-943-5182 or igloo90qt@sedgwick.com to request a replacement handle.

In a statement, Igloo emphasized that consumer safety is its top priority and assured customers that it is taking proactive steps to improve product safety. Additional recall details can be found on the CPSC, Health Canada, and OECD global recall portals.
