The Idaho Potato Commission launched a French fry-inspired lip balm, Kiss of French, for Valentine’s Day, and it sold out in just 48 hours.
The limited-edition lip balm, made with real Idaho® potatoes, was marketed as a food-meets-beauty product, claiming to hydrate lips while delivering a fry-like essence. The unexpected product quickly gained attention on social media, leading to a rapid sellout.
This is not the first time the Idaho Potato Commission has ventured into novelty beauty items. In 2022, the organization released Frites by Idaho, a French fry-scented perfume, which also sold out shortly after its release.
“French fries aren’t just a favorite—they’re a full-on obsession,” said Jamey Higham, IPC President & CEO in a statement.
For those who missed out, the Idaho Potato Commission is holding an Instagram giveaway through Friday, February 16, allowing a few lucky fans to claim the last remaining lip balms.
