Lil Baby’s attorneys are pushing back against claims made by Atlanta police linking the rapper’s music video shoot to the deaths of two 13-year-old boys.

In a statement issued Friday, attorneys Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg called the police’s remarks “complete and total nonsense,” saying, “To say that he couldn’t shoot a music video in his hometown, a place that he loves and has continued to uplift, is disgraceful. Even more, the location for a major music video shoot is a decision made by a professional team and is not a decision made by any individual.”

During a Wednesday press conference, Atlanta Police Homicide Commander Maj. Ralph Woolfolk alleged that a May 2024 shooting at Lil Baby’s music video set fueled gang tensions, ultimately leading to multiple violent incidents, including the fatal shooting of 13-year-olds Lamon Freeman and JaKody Davis in July. Woolfolk called the video shoot a “cowardly act” and claimed Lil Baby filmed in an area he “knew he should not have been.” Seven men have been arrested in connection with the murders, and police documents name Lil Baby, real name Dominique Jones, as the alleged leader of OMF, a gang described as a subset of the “hyperviolent” Goodfellas organization.

Lil Baby initially responded to the situation on Instagram, warning fans not to believe “fake news.” His attorneys emphasized that he had no involvement in the crimes and denounced the police department’s statements as “unprofessional, unethical, and shameful.” The statement added, “Dominique is devastated about the situation because those children came from the same neighborhood he did, and he will continue to build up his community in any way he can.”
