Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart Address Knicks' Winless Record Against NBA’s Elite

Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart

It’s no secret that the New York Knicks could be classified as the best team that just can’t seem to get over the championship hump. With a winless record against the NBA’s top teams (Boston, Cleveland, Oklahoma City), fans believe the ceiling for this Knicks squad is clear—until they face the Celtics or Cavaliers.

It’s disappointing for Knicks fans, who expected the additions of Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns to elevate this team into championship contention. So far, the Knicks are 38-20, sitting third in the Eastern Conference. But with seven of those losses coming against the teams ranked ahead of them, it’s a cause for concern.

Yesterday, we reported that Paul George shut down his podcast until the offseason to focus on finishing the season strong. Some have suggested Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart do the same with their show, The Roommates Show.

The longtime teammates shared their thoughts on their 0-7 record against the league’s top teams and where their mentality stands.

“A team seeing that stat and recognizing it could take it two ways,” shooting guard Josh Hart said. “It can be extremely beneficial because it humbles you. We have a lot of room to grow. Or it can break you, and you start thinking, ‘Oh, we’re not as good.’”

Star guard Jalen Brunson was blunt about the situation.

“The number of times we’ve been embarrassed on national television, I mean, that should ring a bell,” Brunson said after Hart’s statement. “And not just for those games, but the regular season as a whole.”

With 25 games left before the playoffs, the Knicks have a limited window to find their identity and prove they can compete with the best. So far, both Boston and Cleveland seem to be operating on another level.
